I have been trying to write a story about this little piece of paradise for two hours… it’s not easy! Everything I start to write comes out sounding super cliché and predictable. It’s hard to share the feelings of traveling to a dream place (cliché no. 1), or to concentrate when you have perfect left handers pealing in front of you (no. 2).

Anyway, here are some bits and pieces that might be interesting to some of you – and check out the short film below to get a better understanding:

Imagine being 25 years old, going on a surf trip with your best friend, arriving at one of the best waves in Nicaragua, and staying at a surf camp overlooking that wave… then decide to buy the place 8 days later! That’s what two super-friendly Brazilians mates Leandro and Raphael did 2 months ago, and I’ve been lucky enough to be living this dream with them for the past 2 weeks!  Check out the Miramar surf camp website to get a better picture (a bit of advertising for my buddies).

Despite having little swell in the first week, we managed to surf a small and perfect point break and make the most of the all-day offshore winds. I also spent one long 15-hour night on a fishing boat with the local fishermen… (see video here). The second week was very different. October is unusual in Nicaragua, it’s basically the only month of the year where winds can turn on-shore, and they did at times. But when the swell came more options opened up, especially the barreling wave called Punta Miramar out the front of our place. The film shows you how entertaining this wave can be.

Anyway, I am still struggling to write and seven Aussies just arrived so it might be time to try and get the creative juices flowing with a beer or two…

Eu tenho tentado escrever essa historia sobre esse pequeno pedaço de paraíso faz duas horas…nao e tao fácil ! Tudo que eu começo a escrever soa tao clichê e previsível . E difícil compartilhar seu sentimentos de viajem para um lugar paradisíaco  ( clichê numero 1 ) , ou entao se concentrar quando você tem um esquerda perfeita quebrando na sua frente o tempo todo (numero 2) .

De qualquer maneira aqui um vai um pouco dessa historia que pode ser interessante para você – e você também pode conferir o filme abaixo para entender melhor o que estou falando.

Imagina voce ter 25 anos , ir para uma surftrip com o seu melhor amigo , chegar  numa das melhores ondas da  Nicaragua , e ficar num hotel com vista para esta onda… e decidir compra este lugar 8 dias depois! Isto foi o que os dois parceiros Brasileiros Leandro e Rafael  fizeram a 2 meses atras , e eu tenho tido o prazer de estar vivendo este sonho com eles nestas 2 ultimas semanas! Na primeira semana nao tivemos muitos swells ,  entao  surfamos um pequeno mais muito perfeito Point Break com ventos terral o dia inteiro. Eu também passei uma longa noite no mar pescando 15 horas seguidas com uns locais aqui da região . A segunda semana foi bem diferente .Outubro geralmente nao e um bom mês para o surf aqui na Nicaragua , o vento e predominantemente maral . Mas quando o swell entrou as ondas começaram a funcionar , e principalmente a onda tubular chamada de Punta Miramar bem em frente ao surfcamp . O filme mostra o quão bom essa onda pode ficar .

De qualquer maneira esta muito dificil de escrever isto e sete Aussies acabaram de chegar entao talvez seja a hora de pegar um pouco de inspiração com uma cerveja ou duas talvez….
